Congratulations to EE and Mines’ team for winning the highly competitive NASA University Students Research Challenge (USRC)! The team from left to right consists of Mahzad Gholamian (Team Lead, Electrical Engineering), Garret Reader, Mykola Mazur, Mirali Seyedrezaei, and their mentor Dr. Omid Beik. Over the next year the team will be developing a first-of-its-kind high-voltage supersonic electric turbofan for a supersonic commercial aircraft using a dual-rotor electric motor and a high-voltage DC power system.
